Tianjia Investigation, Design and Research Institute (TID1) is situated in the beautiful coasta city, Tianjin, which covers an area of 15.4 ha.TIDI is a national " Class A " investigation and design by agency directly under the jurisdiction of both the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Electric Power P.R.C.
TID1 founded initially in 1954 and so far has, developed advanced facilities, equipments, and strong technical and the rich experiences as well. TID1 enjoys high prestige within the professions concerned and was chosen as one of the hundred strongest units with comprehensive capacity in the investigation and design of the civil engineering.
The staffs of TID1 are 1800, including 1297 technical personnel, 382 senior ones (in which 34 are treated as professors or research fellows), 554 engineers and 461 other professional technicians, Furthermore, there are also 2 China engineering design masters and some famous experts in our institute.
The main professional scope of TID1 includes: the catchment and river planning, the main river improvement, the investigation design and scientific research of large and medium hydropower projects, the comprehensive environmental assessment for the water resources and the hydropower developments, the investigation and the design for industrial and the civil buildings, comprehensive projects of large and medium water ways (harbour, wharf and ship lock, etc), the large and medium agricultural projects, the municipal works and highways, bridges, tunnels, etc. Moreover, TID1 can also undertake the works of geotechnical engineering, the general contraction for the projects and the construction supervision, the engineering consultation, the technical development and the know how transfer.
Up to now, projects investigated and designed by TIDl are near 50, which are all in the good operation conditions. Among these projects, there are large and medium water conservancy and hydropower control projects, cross basins water diversion projects, river training projects, the reconstruction and enlargement projects of the reservoirs with the dams in abnormal conditions or with potential hazards, pumping stations, ship locks, harbours, bridges, power plants, water works, high rise buildings and the buildings for industrial and civil use.
TIDI has undertaken some overseas projects or the investigation and design of the water conservancy and the hydropower development in more than 10 countries, i.e. Vietnam, Guinea, Mongolia, Mali, Albania, Iraq, Tanzania, Congo, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Burma and so on. TIDI has also sent some technicians to USA, UK, Canada, Japan, Italy, South Korea, Russia, France, Germany and Romania for technical exchange and study.
TIDI has won 65 national and ministerial prizes since 1978, among which there are 25 national prizes, 9 national class A prizes and others are national golden medals. Most of the results have reached international advanced level and the international leading level.
