Winther Browne & Co Ltd is a leading supplier of Wood Mouldings and Carvings, Fires and Fireplaces, Radiator Cabinets (covers) and Book Shelves, Screening Panels, Lattice Panels and Vent Grilles. We also have a special order department for bespoke products.
Winther Browne has a 9000 sq metre modern warehouse complex in North London with a staff of 85.
Our customers include DIY stores, timber and builders’ merchants, fireplace retailers, mail order and catalogue companies, furniture manufacturers, interior designers and building companies in the United Kingdom, Europe, the USA and Canada
We supply consumers via our retail stockists.
Winther Browne designs its product ranges in-house, produces prototypes in its cabinet making division, and sources the manufacture in partnership with modern factories selected for their particular expertise.
The company has ISO9001: 2000 accreditation and has Chain of Custody Certification for FSC Forestry Stewardship Council approved timber and wood products.
HISTORY
Winther Browne is a family owned company founded in 1893 by Mr Winther, a Norwegian dowel manufacturer. Mr Harold Browne joined as a clerk in 1915 and in 1919 bought the company, which sourced dowels from many countries for the furniture trade.
Mr Robert Browne started with the company in 1947 and developed business with the DIY, Home Improvement and Builders Supply trade.
Mr Simon Browne joined in 1964 and is currently Chairman. His involvement has resulted in the growth of the company and development of the business in DIY, Interior Design and Exports.
The fourth generation is represented by Justin Browne and Gareth Browne.
