Kingboard Chemical Holdings Ltd. ( "Kingboard Chemical" ) is one of the world’s largest laminates manufacturer . Since the establishment of its first laminates manufacturing facility in 1988, the Group has been proactively engaging in both vertical and horizontal development. The Group now operates more than 40 manufacturing facilities, turning out a large spectrum of products ranging from paper laminates to PCBs, chemicals, copper foil, glass fabric, glass yarn, bleached kraft paper, liquid crystal displays and magnetic products.
Prior to establishing the manufacturing business, the Group’s founder had acquired and amassed substantial market knowledge, product expertise and customer needs from trading electrical and electronic components since the 1970s. The trading business helped build the foundation for the Group’s core clientele. Most importantly, being close to the market enabled the founder to have identified a huge market niche for domestically produced electronic components, such as paper laminates, which have a broad range of applications in the fast developing market. The Group founder’s astute understanding of the market needs prompted the establishment and operation of a production facility for laminates in Liantang, Shenzhen, in 1988. Since then the Group has been experiencing rapid growth at a rate that at times outpaced capacity expansion.
In 1991, the Group added another laminates facility in Longhua, Shenzhen; and a third production line the following year. In 1992, the Group also formed a joint venture plant with two government - owned institutions in Shanghai. Kingboard Chemical’s management expertise and experienced technicians greatly enhanced the production efficiency of this once government-owned facility when it commenced full operation in March 1993. It was subsequently relocated to Kunshan, Jiangsu in January 2005.
Never complacent, Kingboard Chemical has been investing continuously in expanding its manufacturing capabilities, engaging in vertical integration and building up a team of dedicated professional staff. This strategy enables the Group to effectively control production cost, enhance production capacity and increase market share. Now, Kingboard Chemical is a multi-national corporation with a team of more than 30,000 workers and annual sales in excess of US$800 million. In 1993, Kingboard Chemical was listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited. Kingboard Copper Foil Holdings Limited, the Group’s subsidiary, was spun off for a separate listing on The Singapore Stock Exchange in December 1999. In November 2004, the Group successfully acquired Elec & Eltek International Holdings Limited as part of a strategic expansion plan. |
